Yaron Gershovsky – the man behind so many famous Broadway shows and compositions and concerts and recordings – is a pianist, keyboardist, arranger, composer, and producer. He is the musical director and pianist for The Manhattan Transfer, and has been part of the success of shows such as Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, City of Angels, and Swing among others, and has performed at Carnegie Hall with Michael Tilson Thomas.
This new recording – Transitions – includes contemporary jazz, jazz-rock, samba, and includes both his own compositions and standards. He is joined by Will Lee – electric bass, Boris Kozlov – upright bass, Alex Sipiagin – trumpet, Cliff Almond – drums, Clint de Gannon – drums, Ross Pederson – drums, David Mann – alto flute, and vocalist Aubrey Johnson.
