Composer/vocalist Radha Thomas and composer/pianist Aman Mahajan both are from India, Bangalore specifically, and bring to this recording a very fine blend of jazz, Indian music, and improvisation. Radha has enjoyed popularity in New York and at jazz festivals around the world. She is also an author, having published four books to date. Aman is likewise a frequent performer on the Indian music circuit throughout Europe, the USA and India. His specialty – contemporary improvised music, which he performs as well as teaches at The Global Music Institute, Greater Noida.
On this recording Rahda contributes vocals, compositions and lyrics while Aman performs on piano, Fender Rhodes, as well as compositions.
The songs offered are The Morning After, Jailer, Would I Lei For You?, Leifmotif, Load Shedding, Only Illusion, and Bangalore Blues. All are the compositions of the two performers!
This is remarkable music – wholly original and classy, intimate with echoes of classical music superbly wedded to jazz. Fine piano support for a fine vocalist.
