Mad Love, Ish

Kathleen Hollingsworth sings with a style that mixes sweet with sass as she also plays keyboards with a team of Brent Follis/dr, Dave Captein and a handful of guests. Her pretty voices is sleek on a bluesy Latin lover of her own “Wave the Sun Goodbye” whereas her artsy “Weightless” is a coolish affair that includes Captein’s palpable bass. Some Nashville twang pops up on “Hey There, Rider” and “Passing of the General” while she gets into the funky swamp with guitarist Dominic Castillo on a sweaty “Easy Rider.” Real fun is a 6/8 soul groove of Benny Golson’s classic “Whisper Not” that gets into a rivulet of a pulse. This lady hits the right moods!
