Lizzie Thomas
Celebrated jazz vocalist Lizzie Thomas is a quintessential musician who anchors her gifts in this offering of songs from the great American Songbook. As she has stated, “I can call a tune for the rest of my life, and I will never sing it the same way. That’s freedom, that’s provocative – that’s jazz. Ella (Fitzgerald) makes me smile, Billie (Holiday) keeps me honest, and Cole Porter keeps me intrigued.”

Take that approach and blend well with some fine musicians who support her sensibilities and the result is this glowing collection of songs the way they should be performed!

The ensemble is Lizzie Thomas – vocals, John Colianni – piano, Jay Leonhart –bass, Boots Maleson – bass, Russell Malone – guitar, Matt Chertkoff – guitar, Omar Daniels – tenor sax, flute, Felix Peikli – clarinet, Bernard Linette – drums, and Doug Hendrichs – percussion.

The numbers are Fascinating Rhythm, Our Love Is Here To Stay, I Didn’t Know About You, You’d Be So Nice To Come Home To, In The Still Of The Night, One Note Samba, Cheek To Cheek, Close Your Eyes, and The Very Thought Of You.

It just doesn’t get better than this – old favorites delivered with a fresh approach. Highly recommended.
