Alexander McCabe: Body and Soul

Alto and soprano saxist Alexander McCabe goes into bop and modal territory with his team of Paul Odeh/p, Ugonna Okegwo/b and Craig Wuepper/dr on this mix of originals and standards. His horn flies like Bird on a busy and bluesy read of “Body and Soul” and goes double time on a wild and wooley read with Wuepperon  in of John Coltrane’s “Countdown”. His soprano is graceful with Odeh on the flowing “Elena” and his alto brims on a pretty “If I See Her” with Odeh and Okegwo getting some lyrical solo space. Wuepper’s brushes are suave with Odeh on “Angela” and the team is dressed for the prom on the lyrical “If I See Her”. Muscular music.
