Troy Roberts, Days Like These is reviewed by The Jazz Page

by Glenn Daniels

Troy Roberts, one of the truly outstanding saxophonists on the scene today,  is out with another fantastic effort. Days Like These , his 11th release, is a  panoramic showcase of what Roberts does on the horn. The production is a great mix of swinging grooves and soothing ballads. Roberts interplay with the Hammond B3 organ here, helmed by Joey Defrancesco and Emmet Cohen alternately, is very cool. Drummer Jeff Tain Watts is fantastic as always. The set for the effort is a selection of compositions by Albert Hague, Cole Porter, Jerome Kern, Wayne, Hoffman and Sigler and Roberts himself. Great players, great performances and great music on this one.
