Soothing soulful solo jazz guitar Frank Kohl – SOLITUDE: It truly says something to me (& my ears) when an artist includes originals for over half the songs, and this soothing & soulful solo jazz guitar from Frank does just that… you can get an up-close and personal look at him as he performs “How High The Ocean” from earlier efforts…
You’ll find more performances when you SUBSCRIBE to Frank’s YouTube channel (as did I).
As I listened to Frank’s original “Imagine This“, it brought back memories of another Great Northwest jazz guitar favorite – John Stowell – turns out that’s no coincidence, since Frank has played together with John before, and lives just up the road from me in Seattle… in fact, they’ve played together before… DJ’s will be spinning Frank’s tune over & over again, I’ve no doubt!
Frank’s performance of Oscar Peterson’s “City Lights” is uniquely his, and brings back many memories of notable jazz guitar shows I’ve observed (before the pandemic kind of “shut us in”)… I will certainly look forward to going to one of Frank’s shows when things open back up.
Of the thirteen sonic gems Frank offers up for our listening pleasure, it was easy to make my choice for personal favorite… another original by Frank, “A Call For Peace“, certainly is appropriate for our times today!
I give Frank a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this jewel of an album. Get more information and check out the songs on Frank’s listening page.
