Volcanic jazz communication Zen Zadravec – HUMAN REVOLUTION: Lovers of jazz who are kind of addicted to volcanic jazz communication are going to find pianist, saxophonist and composer Zen’s volcanic jazz communication style very much to their liking (as did I)… I didn’t find any LIVE videos there (hint! hint!), but you can view and hear this entire album on the Zen Zadravec topic channel, or by clicking below…
The players on the album are Zen Zadravec- Piano; Todd Bashore – Alto and Soprano Saxes; Derrick Gardner, John Douglas – Trumpet; Kenny Davis, Mike Pope -Bass; Mark Whitfield Jr. – Drums and Dylan Bell – Vocals, and they just KICK it LOOSE on the wonderful 6:11 opener, “The Nature of All Things“… the horn opening segues into some fantastic keyboard from Zen, as well as powerful sax soloing from Todd… jazz DJ’s all across the globe will be putting this tune into constant rotations!
If your ears are yearning for something a bit more laid-back, you’ll find the performance of Mal Waldron’s “Soul Eyes” is a total charmer… Derrick’s trumpet takes the song to brand-new levels.
Of the eight (long) songs offered up for our jazz joy, it was easy to choose “Climb” as my personal favorite… whatever funky mood you might have been in – this tune will LIFT your spirits up!
I give Zen and all his players a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99 for this most memorably energetic jazz journey. Get more information at Zen’s website.
