Versatile exciting jazz trio Adam Glaser Trio – WIDE AWAKE: My Great Northwest morning is vastly improved as I listen to the versatile and exciting jazz trio pianist Adam Glaser has put together for our aural adventures… though I didn’t see any LIVE videos from this new album, you’ll still want to SUBSCRIBE to Adam’s YouTube channel (hopefully he will post some live performances there soon).
Now, on to the album… seven of the nine songs offered up are originals by Adam… Adam’s trio features Adam on piano; Pete Coco doing bass and Chris Smith playing drums, and as you listen to his stunning original, “November“, you’ll hear (and FEEL) the amazing musical conversations all three of the players are having with each other (and with you, of course)!
I’ll go as far as saying that you’ve never heard more upbeat piano than you will on another original by Adam… “Sacrificial Rhumba” (inspired By The Sacrificial Dance From Stravinsky’s The Rite Of Spring) will have you up on your toes dancing ’round your living room with visions of Gypsy dances around late-night fires… I especially liked Adam’s work in the lower registers of his piano on this tantalizing tune.
Adam’s piano on Norman Gimbel’s “I Got A Name” is full-bodied and lively… I believe DJ’s ’round the globe will be spinning this piece often!
It was easy to make my choice for personal favorite of the nine tunes offered up… the opener, ” If You Don’t Mind“, another Glaser original that brings the total talent of all three players into very clear focus… I loved this song, and have selected it for my iPhone playlist (an honor that only a few single tunes get).
I give Adam and his mates a MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED rating, with an “EQ” (energy quotient) score of 4.99. Get more information, and purchase direct from the artist, on Adam’s page for the release.
