Based in Maryland, keyboardist David Bach is a powerful player with an eclectic style that incorporates elements of jazz, world, Latin, rock and blues. Like the performer on stage, Bach’s music also conveys plenty of charisma, energy and jazzy melodic fervor. His opening original “Fierce Heart” establishes a solid groove and is certainly a fitting moniker for both this dedicated musician and the title of his sixth album. He enlists a cast of over a dozen fine musicians to bring his music to life. We hear songs that are meditative (“Mood Swing”), funky (“Strike the Note”), enchanting (“Trickle Up”), worldly (“Mandalay”), and tranquil (“Taylor”). Bach’s self-penned “Serenade” is very pleasant with David Marq‘s sax and the ambient voices of Michele Bowman and Karla Chisholm. His cover of Eric Satie’s “Gymnopedie” is buoyant and relaxed as Bach’s keys converse with Brian Falkowski’s flute. Bach’s arrangement of Freddie Mercury’s “We Are the Champions” reinvents the song with comforting warmth, and Sting’s “Roxanne” is captivating. David Bach’s take on contemporary jazz emphasizes sophistication and class, and it’s sure to build him a substantial following beyond the Eastern seaboard.  (Joe Ross, Roots Music Report)
