Capturing the heart of audiences with her extensive repertoire in traditional jazz and bebop, Ashley creates an atmosphere of excitement that will transport you to another place and time. Her style is reminiscent of the great Anita O’Day and June Christy, and she performs with a level of maturity that is far beyond her years. At only 23 years old, Ashley has already performed with many Grammy award winning artists including Dave Holland, country music star Keith Urban, Internationally renowned singer Juanes, Jon Secada, Delfeayo Marsalis, and Arturo Sandoval.
Born in Queens, New York, Ashley discovered her love for music when her Dominican father would sing her classic Spanish songs to sleep. It became apparent that this fascination of music would continue to grow exponentially over time, and at the young age of 4 years old Ashley began her musical journey by taking classical voice lessons. Ashley continued to study music throughout high school and attended Miami Arts Charter School, a visual and performing arts charter school. In her time there, she was 1 of 8 vocalists in the nation selected to participate in the GRAMMY Jazz Ensembles (in 2013 and again in 2014) where she was given the opportunity to perform at Sphaghettini, the Official Grammy After Party, and the Official Grammy Nominee party. At only 16 years old Ashley performed on national television with country star Keith Urban at the legendary American Country Awards for a viewing audience of over 5 million people. She was also named a YoungArts winner in the Jazz Voice category in 2013 and was named a YoungArts winner in the Popular Voice category in 2014.
Over the years, Ashley has been given the opportunity to learn from incredible musicians including Grammy Award winner Plácido Domingo, Cyrille Aimée, Kenny Barron, Branford Marsalis, Cheryl Bentyne, Kevin Mahogany, and Julie Silvera. In 2018 Ashley completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music with a full tuition scholarship. Ashley has also been invited to perform at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage as a Member of Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program where she will have the opportunity to study under great jazz artist such as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Greg Hutchinson, and Jason Moran.
